Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. The app works without sign-in. Your favourites and tour progress are stored privately on your device.

Why are some venue photos missing?

Photos are sourced live from Google's image servers. Occasionally a photo is rotated or removed by Google. We refresh the catalogue regularly. If you spot a venue with a missing or wrong photo, please email us with the venue name.

I went to a venue and it's closed / it has moved.

Restaurants change hands, move, or close — especially in Istanbul. Please send the venue name and what you found and we will update or remove the entry on our next content push.

Can I download tours for offline use?

Yes. Tap the orange "Offline" button on any tour's detail screen and the tour — including all photography — is saved into the app for offline access. To remove a downloaded tour, tap the same button again.

Why don't you show user reviews or ratings?

Taste Istanbul is fully editorially curated. We choose the venues we believe represent Istanbul's culinary heritage best, and we don't aggregate user ratings. If you want to cross-check a venue, we recommend looking it up in Google Maps or the venue's own website.

How do I disable analytics?

Open the Settings tab inside the app and toggle "Anonymous analytics" off. The app also honours a remote configuration flag — if we ever globally disable analytics, every device stops sending events the next time the app launches.

How do I clear my favourites or progress?

Inside the app, open Settings → "Reset progress" or "Clear favourites". Deleting the app from your device also removes all locally stored data.

Will there be an Android version?

We're focused on iOS for launch. If demand is strong we'll consider an Android port. Email us if you'd use it.

How do I propose a venue?

Email us the venue name, the address, and one or two sentences explaining why it deserves to be in the guide. We can't promise inclusion but we read everything.
